Course Overview
The University of Bolton has a 'Teaching Intensive, Research Informed' ethos. We'll guide you in exploring the theories, principles and application of different strategies and approaches that can be employed to create effective and inclusive teaching and learning environments. You'll be encouraged to draw from and focus on work-based experiences to share and explore the most effective techniques and methodologies, while working collaboratively with your multi-professional peers and networking with a range of teaching professionals online.
Our welcoming team of highly experienced, professionally and academically qualified staff will cover action learning, enquiry and work-based learning, learning and teaching theory, formative and summative assessment, and using information technology.

Entry Requirements
- Normally, you’ll have at least an upper second class (2.1) honours degree (or equivalent).
- You must be currently teaching or supporting learning (at least 6 hours per week or equivalent at an accepted employer) as you are required to reflect critically on your experience and relate theory to practice.
- You must produce a reference or letter of support from your organisational line manager.
- You must have an identified mentor in teaching practice for support and verification purposes.
- You'll need access to a computer with the appropriate software and accessories, including a webcam, microphone and a sufficient broadband connection. You'll also need basic IT skills. In particular, you'll need to be able to access and use the University of Bolton's virtual learning environment, Moodle. Please contact the programme leader for details if you are uncertain that you'll be able to meet these requirements.
- You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.
- If English isn’t your first language, you’ll also need IELTS 6.5 with normally no less than 6.0 in any band (or equivalent). We also accept a range of other English language qualifications – please visit our English Language Requirements web page for more details.
- Please note that this course is subject to the University of Bolton's Fitness to Practise procedure.

Our Advanced Diploma of CPD in Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher and Professional Education is informed by the Professional Standards Framework (PSF) for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education.
The programme is accredited by Advance HE. It may lead to Associate Fellowship of Advance HE after successful completion and award of the programme.

Home/EU Fees
Home students starting this course in the first year will be required to pay a Home fee of £1,416 for the academic year 2024/25.
International Fees
Overseas students starting this course in the first year will be required to pay a Overseas fee of £2,658 for the academic year 2024/25.
Bursaries
Important note regarding tuition fees for the 2024-25 academic year: EU nationals who meet residency requirements (have settled or pre-settled status) may be eligible for 'Home' fee status. If you do not meet these residency requirements, overseas fees will apply. Irish citizens living in the UK or Ireland will be eligible for 'Home' fee status under the Common Travel Area arrangement. The fees for a student's course of study will be set for the normal duration of that course subject only to inflationary increases – measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded in March each year to take effect for subsequent start dates.

Teaching & Assessment
This is an online programme. You can expect lectures, workshops, presentations, action learning sets, mentor review in the workplace, and using e-learning packages such as Moodle.
We use a range of formative and summative assessment methods, including portfolio development, critical reflection and presentations. The module has clearly identified learning outcomes, and the nature and type of assessments are clearly linked to these learning outcomes.
